German Comedy

Now a days many Indians are going to Germany for Higher studies and work. As we all know Indians are educated in English medium. They learn Geman a few months before going to Germany. As a result they have dominant influence of English. 

It is quite natural that Indians in Germany use English words they cause confusion and embarassment to the locals. This comedy is knitted around English words that sound and mean different to German ears.

das Pony vs der Pony

To start off, “das Pony” is a baby horse 

“der Pony” is fringe hair style. 


das Tor vs der Tor 

“das Tor”  goal  in soccer game, while “der Tor” fence or gate 


das Stift vs der Stift

 “der Stift” you get a pen. “das Stift is a monastery.”


die Leiter vs der Leiter 

“die Leiter” is a ladder. “der Leiter” is a leader or manager. 


die Bank Vs die Bank

 It could mean either a credit institute or a bench you sit on in a park.


der Hahn

“der Hahn” can refer to a faucet in your kitchen sink or  a rooster. 


die Decke 

“die Decke” is your ceiling but it could also mean blanket. In the same manner, “die Decke” could also mean a cover.
